About
Kerri Stenson
Stenson received her B.A. from UC Berkeley, followed by a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. She went on to work as a securities attorney at Franklin Templeton Investments, but after an eight-year tenure there, along with two children and some writing on the side, Stenson decided to trade the corporate world for an entrepreneurial one. Noticing a demand for sustainable shopping bags, she co-founded Olive Smart in 2007. She has since continued her entrepreneurial path by publishing Edible Silicon Valley, an organic, sustainable, local food magazine for the Silicon Valley region. After many requests to bring the Olive Smart bags back, Stenson and business partner Cindy Goldberg collaborated in 2013 to relaunch the line as Urban Market Bags.
Cindy Goldberg
Graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Business Economics, Goldberg joined Andersen Consulting as a computer programmer fresh out of school. She later assumed posts at Hewitt Associates and Visa as a developer, but left the corporate world in 1998 to raise her three children, volunteer at their schools and get involved in her local community. During that time, Goldberg launched the elementary school’s PTA website as well as the site for Edible Silicon Valley magazine, which she still maintains. A huge fan of the original Olive Smart bags, she jumped on board when Stenson approached her in 2013 about a bag relaunch. That same year, Goldberg became co-founder of Urban Market Bags.
