Doug joined the company after graduating Pi Sigma Alpha from Whittier College in 1986 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science (Public Admin. & Public Policy) and Sociology.

Doug is active in the Alumni Association and was asked to serve on the Whittier College Poet Council. Inaugurated in fall 2006, the Poet Council is a small, presidential advisory group, formed to tap into fresh and thoughtful perspectives on opportunities and challenges facing Whittier College.

Select alumni and others close to the college who have successfully applied their educations to a variety of endeavors are invited by the president to participate. Doug served on the Los Angeles County Environmental Crimes Sentencing Guidelines Task Force at the request of then-Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti.

Prior to joining the company, he was a PSIA Certified professional ski instructor and worked as a ski instructor and then as a supervising instructor for Snow Summit Ski Area in Big Bear Lake, California. Doug is a past president of the West Coast Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) and is currently serving as the National Chair of ISRI.

Doug also serves on Education Committee for Temple Ramal Zion and had a Board position there as Youth Commissioner with oversight for the United Synagogue Youth and their activities. He was a 2013 Father of the Year for the American Diabetes Association.

He and his wife, Jill, have two sons, Noah (10) and Jonah (9), and live in Porter Ranch, California.
