Leonard Garfield is Executive Director of Seattle’s Museum of History & Industry, an award-winning history center with a collection of 4 million historic artifacts and a robust schedule of exhibits and programs related to the history of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Garfield led MOHAI in the move to a new LEED-platinum museum at Lake Union Park, which opened in 2012. Before joining the museum, Garfield served as director of the King County Office of Cultural Resources (now 4Culture) from 1993-1999; served as Washington State Architectural Historian from 1985 to 1993; and was Wisconsin State historian from 1978 to 1985. Among other writings, he is co-author of Built in Washington, an architectural history of Washington State published by WSU Press.
