About
Time spent on his family farm left a lasting impression for Beyond Meat founder and CEO, Ethan Brown. After working for a fuel-cell company for several years, his interest in global warming issues came full circle as he turned his attention toward livestock and reducing its massive logistical footprint around the world. His solution: a plant-based protein mix that offers the look, feel and taste of meat. “Looking at the climate change implications, at the human health implications, at the natural resource-use implications and ultimately animal welfare, all of these things can be addressed by creating a plant-based meat,” Brown says. “Ultimately, I said, I’m going to try to find a technology that can take plant-based protein to mimic the fiber structure of animal protein.” Visit the Beyond Meat website. Ethan Brown originally appeared on Green is Good on March 24, 2014.Episodes
