About

Sally Parker, LEED GA, is the Energy and Sustainability Liaison for DC Public Schools. She focuses on strengthening collaborative opportunities between stakeholders with a vested interest in sustainable schools. Areas of focus include all things “green” – energy conservation, healthy and local food, green construction, environmental literacy, biodiversity and many others. Prior to joining DCPS, Sally practiced landscape architecture for municipal and federal government construction projects and sought to improve biodiversity and ecosystem health on every project site. Her early adult years were spent with the United States Marine Corps, residing in a variety of places across the country and the globe. The experience equipped her with an appreciation of how unique and wonderful each place on the planet can be, and dedicated her ensuing career to supporting every diverse community with which she can interact. Sally has been a longtime enthusiast of river and ocean canoeing, but frequent misadventures with a hydrophobic dog have led to more land-based recreation in recent years. Sally’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Natural Resources with a concentration in Leadership in Sustainability from Virginia Tech.
