Jimmy Jia, is a co-founder and CEO of Distributed Energy Management where he helps business owners identify efficiencies and save money through creating and managing total utility budgets. With rigorous performance targets of bills, capital investments and maintenance, business owners can gain control of costs, reduce uncertainty of operations and lower energy bills. He also teaches the Sustainable Energy Solutions Certificate program at Pinchot University, a year-long course that educates MBA students on how to incorporate energy issues into the decision making process. Formerly, he was a Territory Manager of industrial inspection equipment at Olympus, covering eastern New England where he was responsible for managing several Fortune 500 accounts. He was also an Associate Engineer at Panasonic where he was awarded multiple patents in advanced laser machining methodologies.
He holds a BS and MS from MIT in Material Science and received his MBA from the University of Oxford. He is the Chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest and he is on the steering committee for the Washington State Energy Futures Conference sponsored by the Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC). He is the author of the book, Driven by Demand: How Energy Gets is Power, which explores the topic of energy through societal outcomes, such as comfort, mobility, security, and others. He is passionate about implementing best business practices that help reduce consumption, cost while delivering improved outcomes and productivity.
