As Syngenta’s Head of Digital and Sustainable Solutions for North America, Paul Backman brings over 30 years of expertise to his role, a position he assumed on October 1, 2024. This appointment follows his successful tenure as Global Head of Value Chain, where he served from June 2023. Throughout his career at Syngenta, Paul has excelled in various commercial roles, including leading the North American Industry Relations Team and the West Heartland Commercial Unit’s Crop Protection business in the Midwest.Â
An Auburn University graduate with a degree in Ag Economics, Paul combines his academic background with extensive industry experience to drive innovation in digital agriculture and sustainable farming practices. His leadership extends beyond Syngenta, as evidenced by his board memberships with the Food and Agriculture Section of BIO and the Ag Retailers Association.Â
Based in Greensboro, NC, Paul, along with his wife Tammy and their four children, remains deeply connected to the agricultural community. In his current role, he continues to shape the future of agriculture by leveraging digital technologies and promoting sustainability across North America.Â
