Father-daughter duo Jeffrey and Meika Hollender introduce their new endeavor, Sustain Condoms, which looks to bring sustainable, nontoxic condoms — the first “green” condom — to the marketplace on June 1, 2014. Sustain’s product calls for indigenous rubber tappers to harvest latex naturally from the Amazon region. The resulting product is Forest Stewardship Council certified, fair trade certified, GMO-free and 100% vegan, and is being marketed to men and women. “There is constantly a stigma around women who buy and carry condoms,” Meika admits. “It just doesn’t make sense anymore. We created a product that is very upfront and honest about the issues out there. There are still STDs; there is still AIDS. We hope to make women feel like a condom is a badge of honor rather than something you should be ashamed about.”
