About
Janette Micelli is the external communications manager for Waste Management. She joined the environmental solutions company in 2011, and serves in a key planning and execution role of the company’s title sponsorship of the Waste Management Phoenix Open PGA TOUR golf tournament. For the 2015 tournament, in addition to leading the public relations strategy, she also served as the primary project manager and worked with a dedicated team of 20 Waste Management leaders in areas of operations, sustainability, communications, marketing and customer engagement to ensure the successful organization and execution of the largest zero waste sporting event. Janette is a driver of key sustainability messages around the zero waste event, and a passionate spokesperson for the tournament’s zero waste mission.
As external communications manager, Janette works with corporate departments to advance and grow the business through communication and media relations, facilitates corporate media inquiries and supports a large team of communications professionals across the organization.
Prior to joining Waste Management, she worked in a variety of industries including solar, economic development, higher education and sports marketing. During her 18-year career, Janette has served companies and clients with public relations, communications, marketing, event management and stakeholder relations.
