With over 20 years of experience in sustainability, environmental and social impact programs, Hilton’s Jean Garris Hand is a seasoned leader with deep hospitality sector expertise. As VP and Head of Sustainability, Jean leads Travel with Purpose, which is Hilton’s global enterprise-wide strategy to drive responsible travel across over 8,300 properties operating in 138 countries and territories. This includes global accountability for environmental, social, and governance strategy and delivering on ambitious 2030 goals, including science-based emissions intensity targets, and water and waste reduction goals, and delivering on social impact programs and targets.
Prior, Jean founded an ESG consultancy that empowered commercial and industrial corporations to develop robust and integrated environmental and social impact programs. Prior, Jean served as senior advisor at The Blackstone Group, where she led a multi-hotel company utility cost reduction program for which she was recognized on the cover of Lodging Magazine. Prior, Jean spent over a decade at ICF International supporting the US EPA ENERGY STAR program and led support to bring the first industry-wide hotel benchmarking algorithm to market and delivered sustainability consulting services to US national and global hospitality companies.
Jean serves on several association committees including with AH&LA, Global Business Travel Association, World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, and US Travel.
